Using GLUE to secure the ends of your knitted name / word

When I first started making knitted names, I used to leave the wire loop at the end of each piece to avoid the wire from poking through the yarn. It worked… but something always bothered me. The ends looked slightly bulkier than the rest of the name.
It’s a small detail, but small details are what make the difference between “cute handmade” and “clean professional finish”.
My solution:
Instead of leaving the loop to keep the wire from poking through, I cut it and secure the end with glue.
This keeps the thickness consistent throughout the name, creating a cleaner and more refined finish while still ensuring the wire stays safely enclosed inside the i-cord!

Why this matters:
If you plan to sell your knitted names, finishing details really matter. Buyers might not know exactly what feels “better”, but they can see when something looks clean and well made.
Removing the loop of your wire:
Maintain even thickness from start to finish
Avoid bulky ends
Keep the wire safely secured inside
Creates a neater silhouette
Makes the piece feel more professional
Here is how i do it:
Cut the wire loop using wire cutters.
Add a small drop of strong universal glue to the end of the wire.
Slide the i-cord over the glued wire to cover it.
Close the end neatly by sewing as usual.
Trim any excess thread.

That’s it. Simple, but very effective!

The glue I use:
I use the UHU all purpose adhesive glue. (I tried a few and this one is just perfect!). It dries clear and really quickly but not too quickly! It holds very well without soaking through the yarn.
You can find the exact one I use on my Learn page here →https://amzn.to/4cZ3r6a

Avoid hot glue! It can create extra bulk at the end, it's harder to control in small area and can leave visible bumps under the i-cord (or worse: on the i-cord)

Small adjustments like this can completely elevate the final look of your knitted names!
And voilà! now you know how to secure your ends for a cleaner, more professional finish!
